Mitchell Lurie — Taught at USC and the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. Studied with him at Music Academy of the West. He helped me in so many ways, from getting out of my head to helping my confidence....and I spent time trying to emulate his gorgeous sound.
The Joe Allard Project — Mr. Hasty suggested I work with Joseph Allard for a Master Degree at Juilliard. Joe was the perfect follow-up to Mr. Hasty. This website is a loving, ongoing project that holds Joe up as he was—a versatile musician, superb diagnostician, and all-around great human being.
George Silfies, Principal Clarinet, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra — George Silfies was Principal Clarinet with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra from 1970 to 2004. Prior to his appointment with the SLSO, he held principal positions with the U.S. Navy Band, the Baltimore Symphony, the Mostly Mozart Orchestra, and the opera companies of New York City and Santa Fe. He also served for seven years as Assistant Principal Clarinet and Principal Pianist with the Cleveland Orchestra, where he played under the direction of George Szell. He is the pianist and clarinetist on my CD, Clarinet Enchantments.
