Mitchell Lurie — Taught at USC and the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. Studied with him at Music Academy of the West. He helped me in so many ways, from getting out of my head to helping my confidence....and I spent time trying to emulate his gorgeous sound.
The Joe Allard Project — Mr. Hasty suggested I work with Joseph Allard for a Master Degree at Juilliard. Joe was the perfect follow-up to Mr. Hasty. This website is a loving, ongoing project that holds Joe up as he was—a versatile musician , superb diagnostician, and all-around great human being.
Adam Baliff: Repertoire List — Adam Baliff has prepared one of the most comprehensive lists of clarinet repertoire that I’ve ever come across. Works are arranged by level of difficulty, by genre, by type (sonatas, chamber music, etc), by year in college, and more.
Gregory Barrett: Lists and Other Resources — Gregory has many fine resources on this page, including a chronological list of clarinet works and a separate, fabulous list of Scandinavian repertoire. He also has good information on fundamentals of clarinet playing.
Richard Faria’s Selected Repertoire List — Richard Faria, Professor of Clarinet at Ithaca College, has created a list of clarinet repertoire, complete with NYSSMA levels, and works grouped by difficulty as well as by instrumentation.
Chautauqua Institution Summer Music Festival-Chamber Music — Link to the chamber music portion of Chautauqua’s School of Music, of which I am a part. I also give lessons to clarinetists who are part of the School of Music. Chamber music is scheduled for all sections of the orchestra in two distinct phases. The first phase is with faculty coaches between weeks 2 to 4, and the second phase is with faculty/guest coaches and different repertoire during week 5 and 6. The second chamber music phase is intense. During this period no orchestral rehearsals are scheduled. Winds will be coached and coordinated by Diana Haskell in a combination of trios, quintets, octets and some mixed chamber groups. Each group will be coached daily until it is scheduled for public performance during week 6.
